CHC - Colon Health Counts
Is A Healthy Colon The Foundation Of Wellness? As I said on my homepage I undertook a colon cleanse. I did it primarily as a support for my wife who had done it before and had been encouraged by her results, and wanted to do another one.
She is allergic to various foods and suffered a range of different conditions as a result of this. Excema for example, and bouts of diarhrrea from time to time for no discernible reason. She had consulted a herbalist when much younger following the inability of the mainstream medical profession to be able to do much about it, and it was he who suggested a colon cleanse, combined with a fast.
So, before I met her she undertook exactly that, a fast combined with a colon cleanse, which consisted of colonics (or enemas - there is a difference but for the average person the distinction doesn't matter) every day during the fast.
She was very happy with the results of her cleanse and so, after she met me, wanted to do it again. But understandably she didn't particularly want to do it while she lived in the same house with me who was probably going to be hoeing into a nice big dinner every night, while she starved. So she asked if I'd like to do the cleanse with her.
Now that was a pretty big ask. I wasn't sick. I didn't have any health problems at all in fact, and here she was asking me to fast for a week and do daily enemas in sympathy with her. Wow was I excited!!
But in the end I did it and it was a very interesting experience. The first thing that I have to say is that it ISN'T EASY. You may hear all sorts of stuff about how, after the first day, you don't really notice it so much and by the end of the week you're not really all that interested in food at all.
Well to some extent that's true, a bit. It is true that I found the first day or 2 the hardest. After that it got easier, but not lots easier.
(It gets a little messy here so if you're squemish stop reading if you have a weak stomach)
We did enemas morning and night. Now if you read the material about this you'll know that there are all sorts of claims made about what you'll get out of yourself if you do this. For the sake of decency I won't describe it all but will say that we were both surprised with what we got out of our system. I wasn't expecting it, she was. But I was very surprised.
What we didn't get was the stuff you see in the photos, a sort of sausage looking substance which is supposed to be the impacted material from the colon. I don't know if this was because we didn't do it long enough or for another reason, but neither of us did. But there was lots of other stuff, the sort of stuff that when you looked at it you thought "better out than in".
The fast was a full fast, water only, not juice, although it is often suggested that a juice fast is good. We took some supplements and drank a lot. It was for a week.
So, what was the result? We were both happy with the result. We both lost a little weight, although that wasn't why we did it, neither of us needing to lose weight. And our stomachs shrank noticeably. For quite some time after the cleanse we both noticed that we couldn't eat anywhere near as much as we did before, and that had to be a good thing.
We both felt good. It's hard to be specific, but that explains it really. We both felt better. More energy, a more lively feeling. Just, well, better.
And my wife's conditions became noticeably better.
Were there any negatives? No not from a health point of view. But it certainly wasn't a fun week, it's not something I'd do all the time, although I know someone who does this one day out of every week. She says you get used to it.
Were we happy with our results? Yes we were. It wasn't an easy week, but our results made us both satisfied that we had made the effort. Would we do it again? Yes, but we wouldn't look forward to it.
Does this prove anything? It proves that for us it was a positive experience. It was worth doing. But it doesn't prove anything for you because there is no evidence that if it was a positive for us it would be a positive for you. But I am happy to offer our results of our colon cleansing here, and you can draw your own conclusions.
Were there any health risks doing what we did? I don't know. Some say yes, some say no. I've never experienced any health downside during or after. Maybe there was. Who knows, but it worked for us.
If you want to find out more about the pros and cons of colon cleansing, either the way we did it with fasting and colonics, or enemas, or perhaps another way, stick around and read what you can on this site. There's lots of information on colon cleansing here, on both sides of the argument.
And if you do a cleanse of your own, good luck.
