Does Colon Health Matter?

There is a raging debate about the benefits of colon cleansing, and maintaining colon health. Like so many good debates, there are lots of eminent sources and qualified people on either side of the debate, each claiming that their position is the right one. What is clear is that it isn't clear. It isn't clear and isn't scientifically proven that colon cleansing does anything in particular for your wellbeing.

BUT, just because it isn't proven doesn't mean that it doesn't work. Just that it isn't proven. So there are still many many people who swear by the benefits of colon cleansing. So lets have a look at colon cleansing.

The first thing to ask is what exactly is colon cleansing and what is it supposed to do?

There are many who claim that the root cause of many of the diseases which afflict many of us is found in the colon. That the colon can be the receptacle of many unpleasant substances, from undigested food, particularly meat, to such things as build ups of various toxins, poisons, chemicals and so on. That the presence of these substances in the colon can lead to a build up of toxins in the body and this can in turn lead to the formation of many, some claim all, diseases.

And therefore, goes the argument, it follows that if this is the case then if it is possible to remove these substances from the colon then it is possible to either prevent these diseases in the future or else cure them if they currently exist.

So the basics of colon cleansing is just that. If this stuff that resides in your colon is nasty and causes disease, you need to get rid of it to reduce your chances of becoming diseased, or as a possible cure for a disease.

There are lots of different ways that it is claimed that this can be achieved. The most basic of these could just the the use of laxatives to aid in the fast passage of digested foodstuffs from the colon. Eating lots of fiber and so on. But the colon cleansing purists will tell you that this isn't sufficient, and isn't even helpful. That this won't result in the materials in your colon which have become impacted in the colon from being cleansed. That it takes more than this, and that the extended use of laxatives is harmful.


There are also lots of other treatments that claim that they will result in a total cleanse of the colon, the removal of all the impacted foodstuffs and toxins completely. For example it is suggested that colonics are a fine way to do this. That colonics, or what is more commonly known as enemas, will help remove the nasty substances from your colon, usually in conjunction with other things such as an extended fast.

And there are also a whole host of products which also claim to achieve the same end without being quite so drastic as fasting and employing colonics, and of course there is also raging debate on the effectiveness of these.

There is a lot of material on the internet discussing the effectiveness of colon cleansing, colonic irrigation, enemas, and various other colon cleansing procedures. A lot of material, from both sides of the debate.

And I spent a lot of time looking for it and finding it. I did that because I was interested in finding out more before I did my own colon cleanse procedure (which I shall tell you about here).

It was long and time consuming finding all the material available so that I could read each of the different positions on the colon cleanse debate. It was boring, but it was worth it because although I spent a lot of time at it I eventually gained a deeper understanding of some of the issues surrounding the colon discussion.

That's why I have put this website up. So that if you are looking to find out more about improving your health through a regime of colon therapy you can read all about it here, on one website, without having to spend hours trawling through lots of sites to find the information.

And what about colon health and constipation. Is chronic constipation dangerous. Does overall colon health count? What other issues are there related to colon health?

This website will be a continually growing resource on colon health, and colon cleansing and constipation in particular. It will be constantly updated until it is a collection of probably hundreds of articles from a whole host of people who have written various articles about colon cleansing and colon health. There will be articles from people who will take both sides of the debate, pro and con. I have no barrow to push here, one way or the other. I just want to offer you a place to read all you can about colon cleansing so you can make up your own mind.

And I certainly don't vouch for the accuracy of any of the claims made by these authors, I have no idea. As I said, a lot of it is unproveable anyway.
